Online solidarity marathon «We care!» to be held on July 29. Proceeds to support political prisoners and their families
The fight against injustice and evil is a long-distance race. On Saturday, July 29, Belarusian independent media will unite to hold an online solidarity marathon "We care!” All proceeds will go to support political prisoners and their families. More than 20 independent media will participate in the event. BAJ will also join the action.
The initiative was proposed by Volha Harbunova, Commissioner for Social Policy of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus, and her team.
Donations will be collected during the online event, which will be broadcast simultaneously on many independent YouTube channels from 10 am to 10 pm time on July 29.
Proceeds will be distributed to funds, initiatives and organizations that help political prisoners and their families.
The organizers urge viewers of the marathon in Belarus to take security precautions: avoid sharing, liking and commenting on the broadcast from your personal accounts, and donate money only from foreign bank accounts.
More than 20 independent media outlets, including Belsat TV, Euroradio, Zerkalo, Zvychajny Ranak, RFE/RL, Radio Unet, Country for Life, as well as the Belarusian Investigative Center, Brestskaya Gazeta, Malanka Media, Mediazona, Nasha Niva, Radio Ratcyja, Salidarnast, BPN/Pozirk, Hrodna. Life, Kyky.org, Nexta, Reform.by, Tribuna.com and others.
BAJ will also participate in the marathon. We also use this opportunity to remind of the marathon in solidarity with the journalists of Belarusian political prisoners, which started in May in Vilnius.
Germany, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and other countries have already joined the action.
