Sports journalist Aliaksandr Ivulin sentenced to 2 years in prison
On January 19, the Savetski District Court of Minsk ruled in a criminal case against well-known journalist and Krumkachy football player Aliaksandr Ivulin.
Judge Siarhei Shatsila presided in the trial.
Ivulin was given 2 years of imprisonment. He was found guilty of “organizing and preparing actions that grossly disrupt public order, or active participation in them” (Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code).
Aliaksandr was detained on June 3 last year in his apartment. He served 30 days of administrative arrest and later became a defendant in a criminal case. The prosecutor demanded that the court sentence Ivulin to 2 years in prison.
Minsktrans (municipal public transport company) sued Aliaksandr Ivulin for 39,000 rubles (13,260 EUR) for alleged damages for stopping traffic during the protests.
Ivulin did not plead guilty and said that he did not block the roads, much less organize any actions.
