Press conference ahead of Andreyeva’s and Chultsova’s trial (February 5, 12:00 CET)
February 9 Frunzenski court of Minsk will begin to hear the criminal case against Belsat journalists Katsiaryna Andreyeva (Bakhvalava) and Daria Chultsova.
November 15 the journalists were livestreaming from a protest on the «Square of Change» in Minsk, when they were detained and accused of organizing events seriously undermining public order (Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code).
The human rights community has recognized Andreyeva and Chultsova political prisoners. Many Belarusian and international organizations demand the immediate release of the journalists. Their trial will start on February 9. The journalists are facing up to 3 years of imprisonment.
