African journalistic organizations’ representatives demanded release of their Belarusian colleagues

The AFEX con­ti­nen­tal net­work for free­dom of expres­sion and media rights in Africa joined the Marathon of Sol­i­dar­i­ty with the impris­oned Belaru­sian jour­nal­ists.

Berlin is cur­rent­ly host­ing the IFEX con­gress, which is attend­ed by over 80 orga­ni­za­tions from 60 coun­tries. Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Belaru­sian Asso­ci­a­tion of Jour­nal­ists also par­tic­i­pat­ed in the meet­ing of this glob­al net­work for free­dom of speech.

Col­leagues from Africa joined a sol­i­dar­i­ty action dur­ing the events in Berlin, demand­ing the imme­di­ate release of jour­nal­ists impris­oned in Belarus.

«Media pro­fes­sion­als from Belarus should be aware that their issues affect not only them­selves but also their col­leagues world­wide. The dic­ta­to­r­i­al regime of Lukashen­ka, the per­se­cu­tion of inde­pen­dent jour­nal­ists, and the war on free­dom of speech in Belarus are known in dif­fer­ent parts of the world. Rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the con­ti­nen­tal net­work AFEX sup­port the voice of BAJ and demo­c­ra­t­ic orga­ni­za­tions, demand­ing the imme­di­ate release of jour­nal­ists,» not­ed the AFEX net­work spokesper­sons.
