Kyky.org media suspended due to funding problems
The online magazine KYKY, which has served as a guide to the city of Minsk since 2010, has suspended its website due to financial problems. This information was confirmed to Belsat TV by the former editor of KYKY, Viktar Malisheuski.
Viktar Malisheuski explained that some journalists will remain in the project and the Instagram and TikTok pages will be updated as usual. However, the website is currently down.
KYKY co-owner Sasha Ramanava said that the team was reorganizing and planning to work in a new format.
Like most independent media, KYKY’s editorial staff was forced to leave Belarus after the 2020 elections.
KYKY’s co-founder, businessman Aliaksandr Vasilievich, was sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion. After the trial, he was recognized as a political prisoner and left Belarus.
In recent months, several Belarusian media outlets have appealed to their readers for financial support.
