Authorities blocked website of Belarusian Association of Journalists

The BAJ con­sid­ers the liq­ui­da­tion of the orga­ni­za­tion and the block­ing of the site to be absolute­ly ille­gal mea­sures.

For 26 years, the Belaru­sian Asso­ci­a­tion of Jour­nal­ists has absolute­ly legal­ly and open­ly helped the mem­bers of the asso­ci­a­tion to pro­tect their rights and real­ize their pro­fes­sion­al inter­ests, improve the lev­el of jour­nal­is­tic skills and the qual­i­ty of the media.

BAJ is a win­ner of pres­ti­gious inter­na­tion­al prizes and awards, a mem­ber of the Inter­na­tion­al and Euro­pean Fed­er­a­tions of Jour­nal­ists.

The BAJ web­site — Baj.by — has been the main source of infor­ma­tion and analy­sis about the Belaru­sian media sec­tor, the facts of per­se­cu­tion of jour­nal­ists and the media. The Belaru­sian Asso­ci­a­tion of Jour­nal­ists has been mon­i­tor­ing the vio­la­tion of the rights of our col­leagues in Belarus for many years.

The site con­tains news and ana­lyt­i­cal mate­ri­als, joint state­ments and appeals of the jour­nal­is­tic and human rights com­mu­ni­ty.

Despite block­ing access from Belarus, the BAJ will con­tin­ue to main­tain the web­site. We are thank­ful to our col­leagues for their trust. A scraper web­site for users from Belarus will be cre­at­ed in the com­ing days.
