Authorities blocked website of Belarusian Association of Journalists
The Ministry of Information of Belarus has decided to block the access of Belarusian users to the website of our organization — the main independent journalistic association of the country. In August this year, the Supreme Court canceled our registration status.
The BAJ considers the liquidation of the organization and the blocking of the site to be absolutely illegal measures.
For 26 years, the Belarusian Association of Journalists has absolutely legally and openly helped the members of the association to protect their rights and realize their professional interests, improve the level of journalistic skills and the quality of the media.
BAJ is a winner of prestigious international prizes and awards, a member of the International and European Federations of Journalists.
The BAJ website — Baj.by — has been the main source of information and analysis about the Belarusian media sector, the facts of persecution of journalists and the media. The Belarusian Association of Journalists has been monitoring the violation of the rights of our colleagues in Belarus for many years.
The site contains news and analytical materials, joint statements and appeals of the journalistic and human rights community.
Despite blocking access from Belarus, the BAJ will continue to maintain the website. We are thankful to our colleagues for their trust. A scraper website for users from Belarus will be created in the coming days.
