Aliaksandr Mantsevich charged with «spreading false information»

Editor-in-chief of Rehijanalnaja Hazeta, Aliaksandr Mantsevich, is accused of "spreading deliberately false information defaming Belarus and its authorities."
According to the case file, Mantsevich, acting as chief editor of the newspaper, as part of a group of people, from 1 January 2020 to 15 March 2023, disseminated false information in the printed edition and its online platforms.
«The articles contained inaccurate information aimed at causing significant damage to state and public interests, undermining the authority of the country and its authorities, causing damage to national interests, destabilizing the country, and shaping false opinions regarding the failure to implement citizen’s rights and freedoms.»
Mantsevich is charged under Art. 369–1 of the Criminal Code (discrediting the Republic of Belarus).
