Belarusian Journalist Hanna Liubakova receives Media Freedom Award
The award ceremony took place at the annual Media Freedom conference organized by the international corporation Transatlantic Leadership Network in Washington. The journalist announced it on her Facebook page.
Transatlantic Leadership Network presented the award to Hanna Liubakova, as well as journalists and activists Masih Alinejad (Iran), Yann Philippin (France), Stephen Kalin (USA), entrepreneur and activist Jimmy Lai, who has been imprisoned in Hong Kong since December 2021.
In her speech, Hanna Liubakova spoke about Belarusian journalists behind bars, including Ihar Losik, a journalist with RFE/RL Belarus.
She emphasized that Belarusian journalists continue to work despite repression, exile, censorship and propaganda.
Hanna Liubakova also spoke at a conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., and shared her experience of independent media work in Belarus.
