Andrei Bastunets lodges individual complaint to UN HRC over BAJ’s forced liquidation

The com­plainant claims that the Belaru­sian author­i­ties vio­lat­ed the right to free­dom of asso­ci­a­tion under Arti­cle 22 of the ICCPR by issu­ing a writ­ten warn­ing to BAJ on 8 July 2021 fol­low­ing an order of the Min­is­ter of Jus­tice, as well as by Supreme Court’s rul­ing of 27 August 2021 to liq­ui­date the orga­ni­za­tion.

Andrei Bas­tunets has been head­ing the Belaru­sian Asso­ci­a­tion of Jour­nal­ists since 2015 and was re-elect­ed its chair­man in April 2021.
